António de Oliveira Borges, created the company in January 1974, continuing a family business.
The company was located on the ground floor of the family home, situated in the main market square, in the parish of Nogueira do Cravo, Oliveira de Azeméis, where he dedicated himself to the buying and selling of scrap.
As there was enough demand for new iron, António de Oliveira Borges began marketing it alongside the scrap material he sold.
With the incorporation of iron in his new business and thanks to the company’s growth, he needed to expand facilities and, in 1981, the first store opened, with a covered area of 1300m², located at Rua do Souto, 77 in the parish of Nogueira do Cravo.
In order to follow the evolution of the market the company has been expanding the product range over the years to meet the market’s needs.
Because of this, it needed to expand the facilities again, hence the opening, in 1998, of a second warehouse with a covered area of 1000m². An Oxy Cutting Machine, as well as a mechanical band saw, to better serve customers.
In January 2002, the company changed its composition, from sole ownership to a private limited liability company, by changing its name to: António de Oliveira Borges – Comércio de Ferro, Lda, maintaining its activity.
Later, in order to meet market needs, a third pavilion was built in 2010 with 800 m², where a Laser Cutting machine was installed in January 2012, with the goal of reaching a different market segment and providing a more complete service to its customers.
